A Good Faith Estimate (GFE) is a document that provides an estimated cost of medical services, including psychotherapy to a patient before they receive their care. This estimate helps patients understand their potential financial responsibility for the services they plan to receive, allowing them to make more informed decisions about their healthcare.
The Good Faith Estimate is part of the No Surprises Act, which aims to protect patients from unexpected medical bills, including psychotherapy.
Healthcare providers and facilities are required to provide this estimate to patients who are either uninsured or self-paying for their healthcare.

There are a few exceptions to this, such as if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others or suspected child abuse/neglect. We can talk more about these in our first session if you have any concerns.
